WCG 2005: European Case Modding Show LAN Truck by Ant

Project Name: LAN Truck
Build time: 3 months solid over a period of 1 year
Materials used: Aluminium and Polycarbonate
Website: www.lantruck.com/

bit-tech: How long have you been involved in Modding? Have you made any cases before this one?
Ant: I started a case the same time when I was doing the truck and this one is also finished. You can visit my website for pictures and info

bit-tech: What inspired you to make this particular case?
Ant: My love of radio controlled cars, I have a collection off about 40 TAMIYA cars, and I decided to combine two hobbies into one.

bit-tech: Tell us more about this case: what makes it special? What are its unique features?
Ant: It’s a fully radio controlled TAMIYA kit you can buy in a retail store. I rebuild the whole back and made a custom side with a CNC mill. This side has a 7 inch touch screen, Xbox ports, ps2 ports, and the screen and controls of the MegaPC. And to top it of it has a build in HIFI/RADIO. The Mobo is an original Micro ATX from a Mega PC, it has a P4 2.8, 1 gig ram, HD 160 GB Seagate barracuda, graka MSI FX5700.

The truck has also a soundkit that gives all the realistic sounds for the truck. The trailer carries everything like keyboard, mouse, cables, ...

bit-tech: How did you get to Cebit 2005? How were you selected for this competition?
Ant: Samsung UK emailed me two weeks ago, they saw my case in "CustomPC" and they said it’s the most unique one, so just take that one to go to Cebit...

bit-tech: What is your prediction for this competition? Name your Top 3
Ant: In random order:

LAN Truck

Coldfusion

Hypercube

bit-tech: What plans do you have for the future?
Ant: Making a new radio controlled PC, but I’m still thinking about it

bit-tech: And finally, what is your favourite Case Mod / Modder of all time?
Ant: The Hummer PC on Bit Tech was an inspiration, and I like mods that are milled because of my job as model maker.
